What will I need to have a natural breeding with your stud?
The first thing you will need is records of your dogs vaccination status and the contact information for your dogs vet. Without proper records and verification of those records we cannot proceed with natural breeding.
What are the pros and cons of Artificial Insemination?
PROS- Preservation of genetic material: AI enables the collection, freezing, and storage of semen for future use. This helps preserve valuable genetic material from champion or rare dogs, even after their death or if they are unable to breed naturally.
- Minimized risks: During natural mating, dogs may get injured or transmit diseases to each other. AI eliminates these risks and ensures the safety of both dogs involved in the breeding process.
- Controlled timing: AI allows breeders to precisely time insemination based on the female dog's reproductive cycle, optimizing the chances of successful fertilization. It can be particularly helpful in cases where the female has irregular cycles or when the breeder wants to coordinate multiple breedings with different females.
CONS- Skilled technique required:Proper AI technique demands skill and expertise. It involves collecting semen from the male, evaluating it for quality, and correctly inseminating the female. Without proper training or experience, the chances of success may decrease.
- Cost: Artificial insemination can be more expensive compared to natural mating. Expenses include semen collection, semen evaluation, storage, and the actual insemination procedure. These costs can add up, particularly if multiple attempts are needed.
- Decreased natural selection: AI allows dogs with reproductive difficulties or flaws to reproduce, which may perpetuate genetic conditions or undesirable traits. Natural selection, which occurs during natural breeding, helps filter out some of these issues.
